Susie's latest crash/update: Feb. 2, 2009 (3 weeks post)

Oct. 2008, I started my Wenzelcoaching with Roger for the Triple Crown once again for 2009. This time, one of my goals of the triple crown, was to tackle DMD.

Training was going well until the day of my training ride per se on Jan. 9, 2009. I thought that I would do a push spin on the foster city bike trail and meet Shelly and Grace. I was about 200-feet from the meeting point.

No memory what so ever, bike crash at Kincaid's. A worker at Kincaid's called 911. I was transported EMS to Stanford (my bike was safe with police and then, Shelly/Grace). I received a fracture mandible, fracture right cheek and fracture Rt. perioribial. My first surgery was 01/09/09 and then, 01/14/09. Recovery overall is going well; minimal swelling and ecchymosis.

Pain is manageable with vicodin elixir and vino. I started walking at the Dish to maintain.

One good thing: lost 11 pounds and have more to go.

I have been truly blessed with family/friends; emails; cards;flowers; homemade soups/meals; well wishes.

My bike has no obvious damages per se. It is being taken care of by the boys at "Bespoke Cycles".

I am thankful to my guardian angels as it could have been alot worse. When I returned to the crime scene, I was ..... the uneven pavement, poles, obstacles, cliffs and water. I have my mental faculties, my mobility, and bodily functions. Thank you to my inner force and the spirits above.

Hugs to you all.
